Best ERP and Accounting Software for Construction & Field Service Contractors
When it comes to running a business, software that can keep your accounting and payroll organized is a must have.
Choosing an ERP or accounting platform is one of the most consequential decisions a contractor makes — and the market is crowded. Sage 100, Sage 300, Acumatica, Viewpoint Vista, Viewpoint Spectrum, Foundation, Sage Intacct — all are built for contractors, all have strengths, and all require an integration strategy if you’re running a field service or restoration platform alongside them.
This isn’t a comprehensive buyer’s guide — your ERP consultant is better placed for that. But as the team that has integrated all of these systems with ServiceTrade, BuildOps, CoreLogic DASH, Rhumbix, and Paylocity, we can tell you what we see in the field.
Sage 100 Contractor
The most common ERP we see among HVAC, fire protection, electrical, and plumbing contractors. Strong job costing, established payroll module, and a large base of accounting professionals who know it well. Integration-friendly via a published API. Most common pairings: ServiceTrade + Sage 100, BuildOps + Sage 100, Rhumbix + Sage 100.
Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate
Better suited for larger operations — particularly those with multiple divisions, complex subcontractor management, or construction-heavy workflows alongside service. Stronger reporting than Sage 100. Common in restoration (paired with CoreLogic DASH) and larger commercial mechanical operations. Most common pairings: ServiceTrade + Sage 300, BuildOps + Sage 300, CoreLogic DASH + Sage 300.
Acumatica Cloud ERP
The fastest-growing platform we see among mid-market contractors. Cloud-native, strong field service module, good API. Popular with contractors migrating off legacy desktop ERPs and with those who need multi-entity reporting. Pairs well with ServiceTrade, BuildOps, CoreLogic DASH, and Rhumbix.
Viewpoint Vista & Spectrum
Common among larger general contractors and restoration firms that also do construction work. Vista is the more established platform; Spectrum is cloud-hosted. We see both paired with CoreLogic DASH for restoration operations.
Sage Intacct
Mid-market cloud ERP with strong multi-entity and dimensional reporting. Growing among HVAC and specialty contractors with multiple locations or holding company structures. We support BuildOps + Sage Intacct integration.
The Integration Question
Whichever ERP you’re on, the key question is whether it connects to your field service or restoration platform. If it doesn’t, someone is manually bridging that gap every day. PixisSync builds and maintains those connectors — see all integrations we support.
